There is so much to know about how Bourbon has become the hottest spirits commodity in the United States. You may enjoy Bourbon but not understand the very specific requirements that must be met under United States federal law in order to actually label a bottle of Bourbon. Taking a passionate approach, this session will give you a breakdown of the marvelous history surrounding our native spirit. We’ll also cover all of the mandatory requirements that separate all forms of American whiskey. In addition to just talking about one of our favorite spirits topics, we’ll have an interactive tasting component. This will allow us to evaluate the differences between 10 different Bourbons and discuss the differences between the distilleries that produce these world class whiskies. You’ll also learn about some of the most important Bourbon based cocktails that have ever been created. *I am accepting barter items that will be donated to Second Helpings. Dry pasta or canned goods will be most appreciated!

About the teacher, William Brennan Corder
W. Brennan Corder is the Director of Fine Wine, Craft Spirits & Beverage Education for Crown Liquors here in Indiana. He has over 15 years of experience in the beer, spirits and wine industry. He sits on a 5 star panel that has selected over 150 barrels of single barrel Bourbon for Crown Liquors in the last 3 years. He and his colleagues are the most intrepid individuals in Indiana with this type of procurement program. Their Four Roses OBSK hand selected barrel from 2013 won a Double Gold Medal in the 11+ Year Old Bourbon Category at the 14th Annual San Francisco International Spirits Competition in 2014. This was the first time any US spirits retailer has ever entered a spirit to this prestigious competition. That barrel missed out on being the best whiskey in the world that year by two votes. He is one of two alcoholic beverage professionals in Indiana with certifications in all three disciplines. He possesses a CSW (Certified Specialist of Wine), a BJCP National Judge (Beer Judge Certification Program) and a SWS CSP (Southern Wine & Spirits Certified Spirits Professional). You can rest assured you’ll have an absolute blast with his gregarious and passionate approach to education. Brennan has extensive knowledge about Bourbon and will regale you with some of his favorite stories from his countless trips to the finest Bourbon distilleries in America.Join
