How to Instagram: The Basics

6:00p.m. to 7:30p.m.
Trade School Indy
1125 Brookside Ave
Indianapolis US

Instagram is one of the fastest-growing social media networks, with more than 300 million users. While it offers the opportunity to view beautiful images and connect with others around the world, it can be tricky to get used to. What sort of photos should I post? Should I use hashtags? What editing apps should I use? In this class, we will talk about how turn photos into Instagram masterpieces. We'll address a variety of editing apps and discuss how you can find connections and community through Instagram. We'll even make lists of useful hashtags. Students will walk away with knowledge about editing, "re-gramming," sending direct messages, and how to grow an organic follower count. *Please come to class with an Instagram profile already set up (but don't worry about posting images).

Bring one of the following:
*I have arranged with Trade School to be the class volunteer
a list of your favorite Instagrammers
an idea for an "Instameet" (a photo walk) you would like to attend
an introduction to a creative (email your teacher before class)
attend a 45 minute Trade School volunteer training before class
give back to Trade School with a PWYC membership
picture books or chapter books
something else you'd like to offer (my contact info is in the registration email)
something handmade (soap, candles, art, etc.)
