Clothing Refashion

6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m.
Trade School Indy
1125 Brookside Ave
Indianapolis US

Clothing refashion can be as simple as adding or subtracting elements from existing garments to make them better fit your personal style! We'll learn the basics of refashioning and show you some inspiration pieces to get you inspired. Everyone will get a chance to practice using our new skills to add a pocket to a garment from your closet, and then move on to embellishment (adding decorative elements onto a pre-existing garment). This is the quickest and easiest way to start customizing your wardrobe and GET SEWING. It’s recommended you know the basics of operating a sewing machine (threading, forward & backward stitching, sewing straight seams) since we will be using sewing machines in class. but we'll be happy to do a quick machine refresher and even troubleshoot your machine for you. *You will need a shirt to add a pocket to and embellish. Please bring your sewing machine if you can/if you have one. If you do not, please let us know so we can accommodate! Make sure it has thread, a full bobbin & a good needle!

Bring one of the following:
a hand quilting lesson (to be scheduled after class - I'm a beginner!)
fresh local produce
help restoring our farmhouse (to be scheduled after class - my husband and I are restoring a farmhouse in southern Indiana - it's about 1.5 hours from Indy)
homemade/paper-crafted/collaged bookmarks or stationary (the zanier, the better!)
organic dark chocolate
organic whole bean coffee
something else you’d like to offer (you will coordinate a 1-1 exchange with the teacher)
spiral bound graph paper notebook
to volunteer for this class as a facilitator (we’ll send you info!)
