Basic Sewing

In this class we will learn basic hand sewing techniques for the straight stitch (used in hems and seams) and how to sew on a button! You will learn through the completion of a "Make & Take" gift card holder. You will be provided with fabric and buttons to complete the project, but you will need to bring a needle (size 10 or 12) and a spool of thread. The thread can be any color.

Bring one of the following:
1/2 Yard of Fun Fabric
A Cupcake!
A Cupcake!
Buttons (Any Kind, Any Age)
Fat Quarters (Available at Fabric Stores)
Fat Quarters of Fabric - (Found at JoAnn's or any Quilting Store)
Sewing Needles
Thread - Gutterman, Sulky (Any Fun Color!)
Yard of Batik Fabric

About the teacher, Ann Luther

Ann is an engineer, athlete, pet owner, prolific art quilter, fabric artist, beader and an organizer with a passion for color, texture and design. She has been sewing since she was 9 and quilting since 1994. Her engineering expertise and tools such as a compass, French curves and graph paper give her unique ways to execute and design fabric art she features in various galleries around town!
