Come and try Gaelic singing

6:00pm to 8:00pm
Albany Centre
44 Ashley St,
Glasgow

Have you always wanted to try Gaelic singing? Do you already know a few songs but would like to expand your repertoire? Maybe you just love singing and sharing songs in a group. It's easy to learn Gaelic songs even if you don't know the language. No experience necessary.

Taught by Bethany Halcrow

I learned my first Gaelic song from Julie Fowlis at the Feis Rois in 2004. Since then I have gone to every Gaelic song workshop that I could in Edinburgh, Glasgow and further afield, plus learned from friends and whoever else I've met along the way. I love the purity of Gaelic singing, the sense of history and culture in the songs, and I love singing together with others, sharing songs, stories and tunes. I have performed and recorded with various musicians over the years, and I have completed two years music study at Glasgow University and Stevenson College in Edinburgh. I look forward to singing and teaching Gaelic song with the Trade School! See you there.

SCIF Provider Cafe

5:30pm to 7:30pm
Albany Centre
44 Ashley St,
Glasgow

Social Care Ideas Factory's Provider Café is a chance for social care providers to get together and find out what's going on in each other's areas. This third café session will continue the theme around Personalisation & Self-Directed Support in Glasgow. The cafe is open to providers, commissioners, social workers, carers, individuals and anyone with an interest in this agenda to discuss what's thriving in Glasgow despite the environment? How people are using their budgets, how they are organising their support and what that, in turn, means for the choices that we can all offer people. The session will take the form of interactive workshops and group work and will help to shape to spot trends and deliver our Self-Directed Support newsletters in the future. There will also be speed networking to get to know people. The Café has been established in a response to SCIF member demand for a space where providers can meet up and network. We hope they will be seen as a positive space where constructive ideas and relationships can be formed.
